What it is
Remote Access lets paired iPhones and iPads keep working when they leave your Wi-Fi. They reach Cuetto on your Mac over the internet through Cuetto Server. Your changes land in the Change List on your Mac, just like at home.
Remote Access is part of Cuetto Pro and Lifetime. Beta testers have Pro for their first year. On Wi-Fi at home, every plan works.
On by default after pairing
With Cuetto Pro, Remote Access turns on by itself after you pair your first iPhone or iPad. You don’t need to set anything up.
To turn it off, choose Turn Off Remote Access… in Settings → iPhone & iPad on your Mac. Your devices then work on your home Wi-Fi only. Turn On Remote Access brings it back for the same devices, without pairing again.
What you need
- Your Mac awake, with Cuetto open.
- An internet connection on your Mac and on your iPhone or iPad.
- A device you paired on your home Wi-Fi first.
Security
- Your Mac opens an encrypted outgoing connection to Cuetto Server. You don’t open any ports on your router.
- Your iPhone or iPad connects over HTTPS.
- Every request is signed with a key only your paired devices have. Your Mac accepts nothing without a valid signature, and only devices you paired at home get in.
- Your library stays on your Mac. Cuetto Server only passes requests and previews through and stores none of them.
The Remote status dot
Once you paired a device, the Mac toolbar shows Remote with a colored dot. Click it to open the settings.
- Green: connected. Your devices reach this Mac also away from your Wi-Fi. A pulsing green dot means Cuetto is connecting.
- Red: Remote Access is on, but Cuetto can’t reach Cuetto Server right now. On the same Wi-Fi your devices still work. Cuetto retries on its own.
- Gray: Remote Access is off. Your devices connect on the same Wi-Fi only.
Red for a while? Check your Mac’s internet connection and the service status, then click Restart Companion Server in Settings → iPhone & iPad.
