Updates on the Mac
Cuetto updates itself. It checks for a new version when it starts and once a day. With an active license, on every plan including Free, it downloads the update in the background.
When the update is ready, the toolbar shows Update Ready. Choose Restart to Update to install it now, or Later. If you choose Later and quit Cuetto as usual, the update installs when you quit.
Cuetto never installs an update while an Apply or an Undo is running.
Update settings
In Settings → General → Updates you find Automatically Download Updates (on by default), Check for Updates… and when Cuetto last checked. You can also choose Cuetto → Check for Updates… in the menu bar.
With automatic downloads off, Cuetto still tells you about new versions and you start the download yourself.
How updates are checked
Before Cuetto offers an update, it checks the download: the file size and checksum must match, the app must be signed with the same Developer ID as the version you have, and it must be notarized by Apple. If any check fails, the update is thrown away and nothing changes.
When Cuetto can’t update itself
Cuetto opens the download page instead of updating itself when:
- It isn’t in a folder it can write to, for example when you open it straight from Downloads. Move Cuetto into your Applications folder and open it from there.
- Your license isn’t active.
To update by hand, download the new version, quit Cuetto and replace the old app in your Applications folder.
Where downloads live
The latest version is always on the download page. Update files live at cuetto.com/releases/. Only download Cuetto from cuetto.com.
What an update keeps
Your tags, Change List, settings, license and paired devices are stored outside the app, so an update keeps them. You don’t need to activate again or pair again.
After a rekordbox update
If a rekordbox update changes the library format, Cuetto tells you right after reading your library. You can keep tagging, and your changes stay saved. Applying works again once you update Cuetto.
